Robert Pattinson loses film role to Penn Badgley
He might be one of the hottest actors on the planet right now, but Robert Pattinson has just lost out on a film role Gossip Girl’s Penn Badgley.
Rob was keen to land the part of cult musician Jeff Buckley in the new flick Greetings From Tim Buckley - he even had meetings with the film’s producers about the part. But Rob eventually lost out to the Gossip Girl cutie, who is super excited about bagging such a coveted role, "To play a man who was singularly gifted as an artist, greatly misunderstood and mythologized as a human being...It's something very special and sacred. I'm going to give all I can to this project."
As well as beating Rob, the lovely Penn also beat James Franco, Jared Leto and James Marsden who were reportedly all keen to star in the film.
Of the casting Patrick Milling Smith of Smuggler Films has commented, "In its purest form this is a father and son story, a rite of passage that is made possible by a romantic journey Jeff finds himself on...We had been searching well over a year for an actor that can come close to Jeff's spirit while also having the serious musical chops required to authentically tell this story. Penn's audition blew us away and we knew we found our star."
